Kall Fimbulbringer Boss Guide — Deep North Final Boss, Fight, Reward
How to summon and beat Kall Fimbulbringer, the Deep North final boss — 3 Malicious Blood, the three phases, and the Sacrificial Blood that ends the game.

Where to find Kall Fimbulbringer
Kall Fimbulbringer is the 8th and final boss — the 1.0 finale of the Deep North. He is not summoned at an open-air altar: the fight lives in The Prison, behind the Aesir Passage, which you unlock by offering 3 Malicious Blood at the Strange Bowl. The blood comes from Jotun invasions: break the Malicious Ice at the bottom of Mörkhalla, a Jotun invasion then spawns at a random location on your world map, and clearing it (and the Malicious Ice on the site) yields one blood. You repeat the loop three times. The Vegvisir that marks the Aesir Passage on your map is found inside Mörkhalla. Across three phases he has about 47,000 HP (10,000 / 7,000 / 30,000) — the largest pool of any boss in the game.
Verified (1.0): The three-phase HP split (10,000 / 7,000 / 30,000, ~47,000 total), the resistance profile and the rewards (Crown Jewel, Sacrificial Blood) are confirmed by cross-referencing valheim.wiki with the IGN and Mobalytics 1.0 boss guides. Exact per-attack values and the spirits’ health are not published by the developers, so the tactics below are community-verified from 1.0 playthroughs. See our verification workflow.
The three phases
Phase 1 — direct combat (10,000 HP)
The most straightforward of the three: Kall fights you head-on with chain melee combos that can be blocked or parried with a shield, a lunge, a two-part pincer area attack, and his tendrils — roots that hit hard when you are close and strike with lightning when you are far. Keep a mid range and stay on the move. Rows of ice stakes fall across the arena in a Spike Rain — move through the gaps rather than holding ground. His spinning throw hurls you across the room; dodge sideways, do not block it.
Phase 2 — the boss-spirit gauntlet (7,000 HP)
Kall seals himself inside an invincible block of ice that cannot be damaged. While he is sealed, the spirits (aspects) of the previous bosses are summoned in sequence: first Eikthyr alone; when it falls, The Elder and Bonemass appear together; as you defeat them they are replaced in order by Moder, Yagluth, The Queen and Fader — with two spirits active at the same time until the last pair. The spirits use most (not all) of their original abilities, and Moder’s aspect is the toughest part of the phase because of her massive ground area attack — when it telegraphs, run to the far edge of the arena. Keep your distance, stay on the move, and be ready to dodge area attacks constantly. Arrows are weak against several aspects (notably Yagluth’s). The phase ends when all spirits are defeated and the ice shatters.
Phase 3 — the final Kall (30,000 HP)
The same attack kit as Phase 1 but stronger: his Slam and Whirl now carry fire and frost, and the Spike Rain is part of the standing kit. This is by far the longest bar in the game — preserve food and stamina, drink your stamina mead before an offensive opening, and do not empty your bar in one push. The fight ends here.
Fight tips
- Bring only blunt or slash damage. Nord or Thunderblood sledges (blunt) and the Nord greatsword (slash) are the standard choices. Do not build around Frostfire or Thunderblood elemental weapons for the main damage — the boss resists them.
- Summon staves are strong utility. The Spirit Caller and bear/moose summons deal damage and hold aggro so you can space the chains; they are not a replacement for a good physical weapon.
- Fire and frost resistance before you start — his later-phase attacks deal both. Activate your resistances, food and Forsaken Power before the offering; The Prison gives you no safe pause.
- Full food loadout: two strong health meals plus one high-stamina meal, with healing and stamina meads in reserve.
- Refresh the Rested buff before entering if you can — the fight is long enough that it matters.
- In Phase 2, do not chase kills: survive the waves, clear the two spirits in front of you, and let the gauntlet thin itself out.
Drops and the finale
Unlike every other Forsaken, Kall does not drop a trophy and has no Forsaken Power — he is the end of the chain, not a gate to the next biome. The kill grants the Crown Jewel and Sacrificial Blood. Take the Sacrificial Blood back to the Sacrificial Stones in the Meadows — the first altar where your journey began — and offer it to complete the game. That is the intended finale of Valheim’s whole progression arc, and the kill unlocks the “Kall Fimbulbringer” achievement (in-game title: “defeat the Shackled One”).
For the full Deep North progression that leads here — Gammeltrolls and Bloodgold, the Winding Tunnels, Mörkhalla and the Jotun invasions — see the Deep North guide, and the whole chain in boss order.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I summon Kall Fimbulbringer?
- Collect 3 Malicious Blood by clearing three Jotun invasions (each triggered by breaking the Malicious Ice in Mörkhalla). Offer the three at the Strange Bowl in the Aesir Passage — the Vegvisir that marks it is inside Mörkhalla — to open The Prison.
- What does Kall Fimbulbringer drop?
- The Crown Jewel and Sacrificial Blood. Unlike the other Forsaken he drops no trophy and has no Forsaken Power — the Sacrificial Blood is what you offer at the original Sacrificial Stones in the Meadows to complete the game.
- Which weapons work against Kall?
- Only blunt and slash deal full damage — he resists pierce, fire, frost and lightning and is immune to spirit. Nord or Thunderblood sledges (blunt) and the Nord greatsword (slash) are the standard choices; summon staves are strong utility but not your main damage source.
- How hard is Kall compared to Fader?
- He is the longest fight in the game: about 47,000 HP across three phases, and the middle phase is a gauntlet of the previous bosses' spirits. He expects your very best gear, full food and both fire and frost resistance.
